Model United Nation (MUN)

Model United Nations at Daly College has always been a rewarding opportunity for students. Owing to the same, the school hosted its first offline Model United Nations this year from 1st to 3rd July, wherein distinguished, Rtn. Amb. Mr. Anil Trigunayat was the Chief Guest, an eminent and well-respected IFS officer. The theme for this year was ‘Yuemanzekui’, an aspect of Chinese Philosophy meaning ‘The moon waxes only to wane.’ With this in mind, students were presented with a hypothetical scenario of the dissolution of the People’s Republic of China which they had to address through various socio-economic aspects. The school offered 6 impressive committees where 150+ participants from 15 different schools from all over India and the Gulf region participated. Students expressed a lot of enthusiasm and zeal, putting forward some of their best arguments vis-à-vis their agendas.

We also conducted a midnight crisis in the conference, aimed at adding a new dimension to the world of crisis-solving and critical thinking. DCMUN 2022 culminated with students gaining the best of both worlds, knowledge, and collaboration, in three days. We were honored to have Mr. Salman Kurshid, honorable Ex. Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of External Affairs, a renowned Indian politician, a designated senior advocate, and an eminent author as the chief guest for the closing ceremony. All in all, DCMUN 2022 was indeed a success in invigorating global awareness and confidence in students.

Following DCMUN, Dalians also attended various Inter-school MUNs across the country throughout the course of the year. These included the WELMUN, SNAMUN, BVCMUN, HarvardMUN (India) , MCGSMUN, YPSMUN, and Virtual DSMUN. Dalians were rewarded with laureates for their hard work in the conferences as they came back with a newfound rigor for global awareness and action.

The Indore World Summit MUN was held on the 15th 16th and 17th of October 2022 in collaboration with Muniversity, Harvard Pair, and the AFS intercultural programmes. Regarded as one of the biggest high school leadership conferences of India, the IWS saw a congregation of more than 2000 students from across the world who gathered to collectively discuss the most salient issues our world faces. Daly College had over 95 participants from classes 6-12 and our students have done us proud by bagging numerous awards The MUN club is yet another endeavor at Daly College to nurture MUNers from a young age. The fundamentals of MUNing are taught at the MUN club, through a melange of mock sessions and debates every Saturday.

The MUN club also organizes numerous Intra-school MUNs which help Dalians practice their MUNing skills with their fellow schoolmates. An Inter-house MUN for classes 6 to 12 was also held this year, giving students a platform to showcase their skills while gaining invaluable knowledge. Moving forward, we, at the MUN club look forward to deliberating upon the most pressing issues in today’s volatile world with our students, helping them evaluate and analyze the situations at hand. To conclude, having succeeded in nurturing several young leaders throughout the year, Model United Nations at Daly College has indeed been a roaring success.
