DCYP : Day OneThe 2nd edition of the Daly College Youth Parliament, under the 6th instalment of the Daly College Model United Nations unfolded on the 17th of April. With a simulation of parliamentary committees, a Youth Parliament is a platform where both historical and modern issues are discussed. “Novum Principium”, the chosen theme for this year’s conference, is Latin for “a new beginning”. A meticulously thought-out concept, it extends a platform for the delegates to voice their opinions on the past events and thus write a new future.
A total of eight committees consisting of the US Congress on the Conduct of War, Constituent Assembly, Confederation of Indian States, Lok Sabha, Iranian War Cabinet, Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, Paris Peace Conference and the International Press are being simulated, covering all major global affairs.
The Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony for the three-day conference was Mr. Rishi Aggarwal, an environmental activist. In his speech, he propounded the idea and emphasized on our fundamental duty, of preserving the environment to the best of our abilities.
The cultural programme, comprising the college orchestra, choir and the dance troupe enthralled the audience. Later, the continuous round of heated debates, deep discussions and immense lobbying took the day forward, marking a fruitful end to the first day of the conference.
